~ Protecting the Future by Preserving the Past ~

Edana Kennels started way before the name appeared. My love of animals was evident since I was a young girl. I believe the first time I found a stray I was 6 years old and brought home a St. Bernard!! We found his parents and I tearfully let him go. That same year my sister and I bought a Labrador X Golden that we names Golden Penny (Goldie for short). He was bought with 100 pennies straight from our piggy banks.
Fast forward to Christmas 1989 when a simple sweat pants shopping trip brought home Scruffy, our Terri-poo. Scruffy instilled the love of training and competing in me. Rollie, our yorkie came next and introduced me to flyball. Those were wonderful years and I am forever thankful to the two of them for sharing their lives with me.
In 1997 I began searching for a faster breed for agility. I definately wanted a dog that was eager to please and was about the size of a Border Collie. Though I loved the BC I wanted a dog that had an off switch. After meeting many aussies I heard about Chase. Chase came to live with me in February and I spent many many many hours training him in agility. Not only did I find it very rewarding I also desiced to assist Aussie Rescue. I became the Alberta Representative for STAAR (Second Time Around Aussie Rescue, Inc,) I stayed with the organization for awhile and when my life was heading in a different direction I had to regrettably let my position go.
In late 1998 I began searching for a blue merle female and my search led me one province to the west. Debern Kennels Perm. Reg'd in Princeton, BC. Debbie Moraes gave me all the time in the world. She answered all my questions and has always been there for me, through thick and thin. Justice was my start in the show world. With Debbie's assistance I began showing and was bit by the show bug. Since the day I met Chase I have loved the Australian Shepherd, since the day I brought Justice home I have been dedicated to preserving the aussie as it was when first introduced to the Americas! I would like to thank Debbie Moraes for not only giving a head strong newbie a chance but for also taking me under her wing. Debbie you are a fabulous woman!!
In late 2000 I met Lori Haldorson of Jayhawker Brittanys Perm. Reg'd. She had contacted me to help her show her Brittany, Dixie, to her International Championship. In October, Dixie, Justice, Ty and I headed to Cloverdale to attend our first International dog show. Since then Lori and I have kept in contact and I have learned quite a lot about the Brittany Spaniel. Thank you Lori for entrusting your Dixie to my care and I hope we have a wonderful friendship for many years to come.
I would also like to thank my family. Trynity .... well what can I say. Everytime you step into the ring with a new dog my heart skips a beat. I am so proud of you!! Devlin, you are the best little boy a mommy could ask for. You are patient with puppies, always there to lend a hand and the bestest friend the dogs could ever ask for. Keara, you are my baby, you take Honor for the best walks. Your giggles take even the worst moods away.I can't wait to see you all grown up, but for now I am delighted you are wonderful little kids. Now there is my little prince, Lochlan, you are the sweetest most adorable baby in the world!!
