Reputable Breeders

One question that is posed all the time is: "How do I know that Breeder A is a reputable breeder?"
The answer is long but definately worth reading.
A reputable/responsible breeder ......
.... takes the time to research the dog that is being bred and the dog being bred to.
.... does all available health checks before breeding. This means having the dog OFA'd by either The Orthapedic Foundation for Animals (which does testing for Hip Displaysia, Elbow Displaysia, Patellar Luxation, Legg-Calve-Perths, Cardiac, Thyroid, DNA, Congental Deafness, Sebaceous Adenities, Shoulder OCD), PennHip or The Ontario Vetrinary College (OVC). Having their eyes examined by a licensed Opthamologist and the results submitted to CERF - Canine Eye Registry Foundation.
.... breeds to improve on faults seen, to provide the best possible dog that conforms best to the standard set forth.
.... does not breed several litters per year, no matter how well intentioned, to only provide $$ in their pocket and more dogs to end up in rescue.
.... has all their dogs registered with;
.... The Canadian Kennel Club and/or..
.... The Kennel Club" and/or..
.... The F馘駻ation Cynologique Internationale (which includes many of the world reputable registries) and/or..
.... The American Kennel Club and/or..
.... The United Kennel Club and/or..
.... The National Club, Inc. and/or..
.... Australian Shepherd Club of America and/or..
.... If you know other reputable clubs please email me.
.... does not breed mixed breed dogs, this includes the ever popular whatever-doodles, Bichon Shih Tzu, Porkie, Puggle, etc.
.... does not breed unregistered dogs.
.... does not breed dogs they have "found" or "adopted"
.... does not condone breeding merle to merle. Check out THIS SITE for more information.
.... does supports their "puppy people"
.... does stand behind their dogs for life
.... does not spread vicious rumors about fellow breeders
.... does educate and doesn't preach to those less knowledable
