I began my search for a blue girl in October of '98. I happened across a webpage that had a blue girl available. i inquired only to find out she had just been placed in a home. So after talking with the breeder, Debbie Moraes, I decided to wait for another litter. February of '99 Debbie told me she had just bred her stunning black tri bitch Velvet to Topper. This was a cross that I was hoping for ad asked to be placed on the waiting list. I e-mailed her at least twice a week until the litter was born. 63 days is a long time to wait!!!Finally one morning I recieved an email letting me know that Velvet had a wonderful litter of 6. The bad news was that there was only one blue merle female and someone else had been waiting longer than I. I decided to wait if she chose the blue girl. She didn't and the start of my life with Justice began.

The end of April '99 Chase and I loaded up in the car and headed over 800km away to go see my girl. Justice was only 13 days old. I arrived at Debbie's place and was introduced to my girl. Below (left) is the picture I took of my precious girl. I thought she looked kind of like a guinea pig!! Hence her nick name "piglet". The picture on the right is of Justice when she was 24 days old (April 28/99).

Justice came home in July of '99 on my trip back to Alberta from the Graham, WA 4th of July Spectacular. I walked into Debbie's yard to see my girl awaiting my arrival. When she saw me she bounced and yipped until I talked to her. With all the paperwork done we packed her up and headed home. She travelled very well in the car and only tested my patience once. She loved to talk to the big trucks!! We arrived home and it wasn't long until she decided to remodel my parents back yard. Below right is Justice relaxing in my parents basement. The ball only lasted 10 minutes until she popped it and ran around with her trophy. I still have the remaining carcass. Below left is Justice sitting on my parents deck. Many people have told me this is their all time favorite picture of Justice.

The year 2000 saw Justice at many shows. September 10 she won her first and only Best of Breed under distinguished Judge Sharon Francis. I am so proud of her. Mrs. Francis said that she was a very pretty girl and that she has the nicest temperament! To finish off the year Justice was awarded her Jr. Nat. CH title with 3 SG-1 ratings on October 1, 2000. That is the highest rating you can receive! Many of the judges we showed to have commented that "She moves like a dream" "Effortless and flowing" "A top line to die for and side gait to breed for". Justice wasted no movement and was always quick to pick up on a new game. Her favorite was to wait until I looked at the judge and then move a foot. She was very ring wise and an absolute joy to show. Many Juniors used her in the ring as well.

We took a year and a half off to let everyone mature and hit the show ring again in early 2003. Justice only ever won a one pointer once, the rest were at least two point wins, beating most of my other dogs in the process!! When she was on she was on. July 27, 2003 Justice finished her Canadian Championship under judge, Edna St Hilaire. Thank you Edna for bestowing this on my baby. Justice finished strong with a two point major, BOS & BOW. Then went onto gain two more points that afternoon!! Below is her Championship photo. I couldn't be prouder.

After completing her championship Justice began working on other venues. Her absolute favorite is agility!! She goes so fast through the weavepoles that she snaps them off their base. She loves to pull a sled and can't wait until the snow flies so that she may pull the neighborhood kids around.

Justice officially retired from all venues (though she never comepeted in more than conf.) in January of 2004. She was our stay at home house pup. She taught the kids how to be gentle around animals and helped our foster dogs over come their fears. Justice loved to play with her girl Sizzle. She adopted Sizzle the moment we brought her home and the two were always in cohoots with each other. The boys would turn and go the other way when they saw the two of them coming. In November of 2004 we rescued a pregnant aussie girl from a neglectful owner and helped her deliver 9 wonderful pups. Momma dog was not much older than a year and very immature. She wasn't too sure about these little wiggling things. Justice took charge and showed her how to clean the pups and would even attmept to nurse them. When the pups got older Justice helped "Molly" teach them how to be good dogs. I think Justice was sad to see them go but to her delight my neighbor adopted two and they are forever playing in the yard with my crew.

July 2005 was the beginning to the end. We live in a normally quiet cul-de-sac. The preceeding couple of months there had been an increase in gang activity in Calgary, mostly in communities surrounding ours. One evenong Carl and I had let Justice and Colt out to run off some steam. We had put the kids to bed and sat down to watch our favorite show, CSI. About 10 mintues into the show we just happen to notice a young man jump our fence to cut through our yard. He was quickly followed by some more males. We rushed out to call the dogs back to us and we rounded the corner of our house. Justice was just letting go of one of their legs and hit the ground convulsing. She had been tasered. Colt was still in hot pursuit until Carl called him back. We scooped up Justice and brought both dogs in the house. We called to police and told them what had happened and that we were on our way to the emergency vet. The vet wasn't quite sure what the ramifications would be from the blast. She had two burn marks on the back of her neck just below her brain stem which eventually festered. Unfortunately we are just another page in the ever growing gang violence file.

Justice was never the same. She was afraid to go into the yard and became aggressive towards other animals. Justice became over protective of the family and had to be isolated when people came over. She wasn't the same girl I brought home over 6 years ago.The morning of September 23 Justice was running loose in the house when all of a sudden she collapsed and began having a grand mal seizure. Not 15 mintues later she had another. We packed her up into the truck and took her to the vet clinic where they started her on rectal Diazepam. The seizures didn't stop totally and the vet said she would most likely not make the night. Well she did. We took her to my parents house (where she felt comfortable) and took tons of pictures. We made the decision to let her wait at the Rainbow Bridge for me. One look into her eyes and you could tell she wasn't there anymore. She was in so much pain. Below is one of the last pictures taken.

Rest in Peace my sweet Piglet!!

Below is a song that I believe sums up our feelings

One More Day
- Diamond Rio -

Last night I had a crazy dream
a wish was granted just for me
it could be for anything
I didn't ask for money
or a mansion in Malibu
I simply wished for one more day with you!

One more day, one more time
one more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
but then again, I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still for one more day with you
one more day...........

First thing I'd do is pray for time to crawl
I'd unplug the telephone and keep the t.v off
I'd hold you every second
say a million I love you's
that's what I'd do with one more day with you

One more day, one more time
one more sunset maybe I'd be satisfied
but then again I know what it would do
leave me wishing still for one more day with you

one more day, one more time
one more sunset maybe I'd be satisfied
but then again I know what it would do
leave me wishing still for one more day
leave me wishing still for one more day
leave me wishing still for one more day with you.
